Our Howth Road, Killester project was featured in the Inspired Homes supplement of The Sunday Times in October 2016.
The project involves the renovation and extension of a house in Killester, Dublin 5, originally constructed as part of Killester Garden Village. The brief required a committed intervention to create a ‘forever home’ for a young family while respecting the character of the existing dwelling.
A sympathetic and carefully considered renovation of the original house is complemented by a contemporary extension to the rear. The extension was positioned to take advantage of the uniquely generous parameters of the site while remaining visually acquiescent to the original house when viewed from approach.
Together, the renovation and extension support modern family living while maintaining continuity with the scale and character of the original structure. The project reflects a considered approach to adapting suburban houses through sensitive intervention rather than replacement.
