A contemporary home created behind a retained 18th century stone façade. The east-west orientation and long, narrow, irregularly-shaped site suggested a snaking plan form which terminates in a garden room and incorporates two courtyards and an open front-to-back kitchen & living space, overlooked by a glazed gallery serving the 1st floor bedrooms. Salvaged brick & stone from the original structure is re-used to connect the new building to the history of its site.

Client Feedback
★★★★★
“Ours was not the most straightforward of projects, a 200-year-old terraced house that had been a wonderful home to generations but now needed major surgery. We were downsizing but still wanted to welcome family and friends to stay, to entertain, to have all the mod cons and at the same time respect and reflect the history of the house. We briefed Brennan Furlong and what they came back to us with was exceptional with a truly original vision of what our new home could look like. With very few alterations we agreed the plans and with their help we identified excellent builders and the development began. Eleven months later we moved into our beautiful new home, the experience working with Brennan Furlong from day one was first class, what we had been warned might be a fraught process turned out to be very smooth thanks in no small part to having Brennan Furlong as our architects.”
