STILES ROAD

RENOVATION & EXTENSION, CLONTARF, DUBLIN 3.

An existing semi-detached two storey dwelling built to the original boundaries of Clontarf Castle. The project necessitated the upgrading of all existing services and amenities through a committed intervention to create a flexible ‘forever home’ for a young family. The ancillary and service spaces have been consolidated and positioned towards the shared boundary which serves to unlock the relationship of the main living spaces with the generous west facing private garden to the rear. A sympathetic and considered renovation of the original house is enhanced by a contemporary extension establishing thresholds between internal and external, open, covered, and sheltered spaces.

The project won the House Extension Refurbishment category at the Building and Architect of the Year Awards 2022
