DOLLYMOUNT GROVE

HOUSE EXTENSION & RENOVATION clontarf, DUBlin3.

A modest extension and internal reorganisation to a 1950’s home creates unexpected and extensive volumes for this young family to enjoy. A continuous ribbon of frameless roof glazing extends the full width of the site along the original line of the rear facade. This draws light deep into the heart of the living space and is further enhanced by a raised sloping roof element over the eastern section of the single storey extension which creates a high level glazing strip. Due to its limited use brick becomes an accentuating material with glass, render and zinc completing the controlled palette.
