House for a Sea-Swimmer – feature in The Irish Times (Home & Design)

Our House for a Sea-Swimmer project was featured in the Home & Design section of The Irish Times.

The project involves the re-working of a coastal semi-detached house in Clontarf, overlooking Bull Island and Dublin Bay. The brief emerged from a client whose passion for sea-swimming was central to the design approach, with the house conceived as both a place of retreat and a social home connected to its remarkable coastal setting.

The design focused on maximising views across the bay while creating a comfortable and robust home that could support everyday living as well as post-swim gatherings with friends. Careful consideration was given to how the house engages with its surroundings, balancing openness with shelter in response to its exposed location.

The project formed part of the Irish Architecture Foundation’s 2022 Open House Dublin programme and was shortlisted in the House Extension Refurbishment category at the 2023 Building and Architect of the Year Awards. It was also featured in the Home & Design section of The Irish Times.

We are very grateful to The Irish Times for featuring the project and for the opportunity to share House for a Sea-Swimmer with their readers.
