Our Four Winds project was featured in Elle Decoration UK in their October 2025 edition.
The project involves the refurbishment and re-working of a 1940s seaside bungalow in Sutton, Co. Dublin, designed to accommodate the third and fourth generations of the same family. Enjoying south-facing views across Dublin Bay, the design responds to its coastal setting while supporting contemporary family living within an existing domestic structure.
Rather than pursuing wholesale replacement, the project focuses on careful adaptation. Materials and forms are informed by nearby landmarks, including the Martello Tower, St Fintan’s Church by Andy Devane, and the 13th-century Chapel of Mone in Kilbarrack. These local references helped shape an architectural response rooted in place and context.
The refurbishment reflects a broader interest in reuse and continuity, balancing the practical requirements of modern family life with respect for the original building. The project forms part of the practice’s wider body of residential work along Dublin’s coastline, where existing houses are reimagined through sensitive and considered intervention.
Four Winds was selected for a Special Mention at the 2025 Architizer A+ Awards, formed part of the Irish Architecture Foundation’s 2024 Open House Dublin programme, and was also featured in IMAGE Interiors. It has been published on a number of international architecture platforms, including Architectural Record, ArchDaily, and Architizer, and was listed by Archello as one of their 20 selected houses from around the world in December 2024.
We are very grateful to Elle Decoration UK for featuring the project and for the opportunity to share Four Winds with an international audience.
