Four Winds – Architizer Feature

Our Four Winds project was featured online by Architizer in December 2025.

The project involves the refurbishment and re-working of a 1940s seaside bungalow in Sutton, Co. Dublin, designed to accommodate the third and fourth generations of the same family. The house enjoys south-facing views across Dublin Bay and was carefully adapted to support contemporary family living within an existing coastal dwelling.

Materials and forms are informed by nearby landmarks, including the Martello Tower, St Fintan’s Church by Andy Devane, and the 13th-century Chapel of Mone in Kilbarrack. These references helped shape an architectural response rooted in place and attentive to the character of the surrounding coastal environment.

The project reflects a broader interest in reuse and continuity, focusing on sensitive intervention rather than replacement. Through careful adaptation, the house was reimagined to meet the needs of modern family life while remaining grounded in its original context and setting.

Four Winds was selected for a Special Mention at the 2025 Architizer A+ Awards and formed part of the Irish Architecture Foundation’s 2024 Open House Dublin programme. The project has also been featured in IMAGE Interiors, Elle Decoration UK, Architectural Record, and ArchDaily, and was listed by Archello as one of their 20 selected houses from around the world in December 2024.

We are very grateful to Architizer for featuring the project and for the opportunity to share Four Winds with a global architecture audience.
