SUMMARY:Open House Dublin – House for a Sea-Swimmer
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce that our House for a Sea-Swimmer project has been selected to feature in Open House Dublin 2022\, presented by the Irish Architecture Foundation. \nThe project involves the re-working of a coastal semi-detached house in Clontarf\, overlooking Bull Island and Dublin Bay. The brief emerged from a client whose passion for sea-swimming is central to the project\, with the house conceived as both a place of retreat and a social home closely connected to its remarkable coastal setting. \nVisitors will be invited to explore how the design responds to its exposed coastal context\, balancing openness towards long views across Dublin Bay with a sense of shelter and enclosure. Located opposite the Wooden Bridge\, the house is designed to support everyday living while also serving as a welcoming post-swim gathering place for friends and family. \nThe tour offers insight into how careful reorganisation and targeted interventions can transform an existing house to better engage with landscape\, climate\, and patterns of use\, while retaining a strong sense of place. \nThis Open House Dublin event provides an opportunity to experience how a domestic project can be shaped by personal ritual and location\, demonstrating how architecture can support both daily life and moments of communal connection.
