SUMMARY:IAF Open House Dublin – Placencia
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce that our Placencia project has been selected to feature in Open House Dublin\, presented by the Irish Architecture Foundation. \nPlacencia involves the reorganisation and extension of a suburban dwelling on an infill site in Killester\, Dublin 5. The project is conceived as a descending series of terraces that follow the contours of the site\, responding directly to its changing levels and surroundings. \nTo the front\, the house addresses a green area that contains the only remaining Legion Hall in Ireland\, while to the rear\, the house and garden step down to overlook the Dublin–Belfast railway line. This sectional approach allows the house to negotiate multiple contexts while maintaining strong internal and external connections. \nVisitors will be invited to explore how the stepped organisation of the house creates a sequence of light-filled spaces that open gradually to the landscape. The tour offers insight into how careful planning and spatial reconfiguration can unlock the potential of a constrained suburban site\, creating a family home that is both generous and closely tied to its setting. \nThis Open House Dublin event provides an opportunity to experience how a contemporary domestic intervention can be shaped by site conditions\, topography\, and context\, demonstrating a thoughtful approach to suburban infill development.
