Stiles Road – Featured in The Irish Times (Home & Design)

Our Stiles Road project was featured in the Home & Design section of The Irish Times.

The project involves the renovation and extension of an existing semi-detached two-storey dwelling in Clontarf, built to the original boundaries of Clontarf Castle. The intervention focused on upgrading all existing services and amenities to create a flexible ‘forever home’ for a young family.

Ancillary and service spaces were consolidated and positioned towards the shared boundary, a strategic move that unlocked the relationship between the main living spaces and the generous west-facing private garden to the rear. This reorganisation improved spatial flow while strengthening the connection between interior and exterior spaces.

A sympathetic and carefully considered renovation of the original house is complemented by a contemporary extension, together establishing a series of thresholds between internal and external, open, covered, and sheltered spaces.

The project received several industry recognitions. Stiles Road was the Winner of the House Extension Refurbishment category at the 2022 Building and Architect of the Year Awards, was a Finalist in the Residential Single Dwelling category at the 2023 Irish Construction Excellence Awards, and was Shortlisted in the Elemental category at the 2023 Irish Concrete Society Awards.

We are very grateful to The Irish Times for featuring the project and for the opportunity to share Stiles Road with their readers.
