Our Four Winds project was featured online by Architectural Record in October 2025.
The project involves the refurbishment and re-working of a 1940s seaside bungalow in Sutton, Co. Dublin, designed to accommodate the third and fourth generations of the same family. The house enjoys south-facing views across Dublin Bay and was carefully adapted to support contemporary family living within an existing coastal dwelling.
The design draws on materials and forms inspired by nearby landmarks, including the Martello Tower, St Fintan’s Church by Andy Devane, and the 13th-century Chapel of Mone in Kilbarrack. These references informed an architectural response that is rooted in place and attentive to the character of the surrounding coastal environment.
Rather than replacing the original structure, the project focuses on sensitive intervention and reuse, allowing the house to evolve while maintaining continuity with its setting and history. The refurbishment reflects the practice’s broader interest in adapting existing buildings through considered, site-specific design.
Four Winds was selected for a Special Mention at the 2025 Architizer A+ Awards and formed part of the Irish Architecture Foundation’s 2024 Open House Dublin programme. The project has also been featured in IMAGE Interiors and Elle Decoration UK, and has appeared on a number of international architecture platforms.
We are very grateful to Architectural Record for featuring the project and for the opportunity to share Four Winds with an international readership.
