The ‘Professional Energy Skills in NZEB’ course has been designed to enable experienced building design professionals to develop an understanding of the EU Energy Performance in Buildings Directive (EPBD) Nearly Zero Energy Building (nZEB) performance standard, with particular reference to existing residential buildings.

'I really enjoyed the Professional Energy Skills in Nearly Zero Energy Buildings course. It improved my understanding of background of NZEB legislation in the World as well as in Europe & Ireland, including global warming issues. It also helped me to understand how efficiently improve existing dwellings to better energy standards, and how to demonstrate it using both DEAP and PHPP (Program used to design Passive House buildings). I also had a module about retrofit economics, which thought me how to calculate simple payback period for domestic improvements, but also how to calculate Life Cycle Cost Analysis of overall house energy improvement. The course was really great, especially in the light of newly introduced Part l regulations!'
